The symptoms of PMS can be broke into 2 separate groups, emotional and physical. PMS is a complicated condition that can affect different women in different ways. The emotional symptoms of PMS laid out below are some of the most common PMS symptoms experienced in the majority of cases. It must be noted that you may only experience some of these symptoms at any one time, and perhaps never experience any of the others. On the other hand, some women with PMS report experiencing different symptoms from one month to another.
- Mood Swings
- Women with PMS often complain of mood swings. In severe cases these mood swings are bad enough to damage relationships and create problems at work and home.
- Depression
- One of the main emotional symptoms of PMS is depression, with many sufferers falling into a deep state of depression. In the worst cases the depression can be accompanied by other emotional issues such as anxiety and memory loss to create a confused and unstable emotional state.
- Anxiety
- Many women experience a deep sense of anxiety as part of their PMS symptoms. This can then contibute to the development of further emotional and physical symptoms, such as a lack of sleep and a sense of isolation.
- Confusion
- While most women will experience a depressed emotional state as part of the PMS symptoms, many other women will feel confused. This can bring on a deeper depressed and more insecure state of mind.
- Forgetfulness
- Often a woman with PMS will experience forgetfulness, more often than not short term memory loss. This can lead to a feeling of insecurity, consequently providing the impetus for a lack of self esteem.
