- Sleep Deprivation Treatment
- Although not widely used or studied, it has been reported that practiving sleep deprivation can help reduce PMS symptoms.
- Limit your sleep to between 3 and 4 hours on one night during your premenstrual period
- This practice may be linked to a change in the circadian rhythms, which may be irregular in women with PMS or PMDD
- Bright Light Therapy
- Bright light therapy is also linked to improved PMS symptoms.
- Exposure to cool-white fluorescent light during the morning or evening can reduce PMS symptoms on bad PMS days
- To benefit from bright light therapy you must have the treatment on the day when you experience the PMS symptoms
